“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”-Helen Keller
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” –Gandhi
“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” –Winston Churchill
All of the above quotes perfectly describe volunteers. Many volunteers can do so much together, and change the world a little bit at a time. Doing something without expecting anything or receiving anything in return can be a difficult task, but they are often the most rewarding. And that’s what volunteers do.
Why should one volunteer? The definition of a volunteer according to dictionary.com is “a person who performs a service willingly and without pay.” Often times, the reason volunteers aren’t paid is because the organization or business can’t afford to pay anyone. And even if there were people who volunteered, and the organization offered to pay them, those volunteers probably wouldn’t accept the money.
Our volunteers at Global Ties Akron are amazing. We simply would not be able to do what we do if we didn’t have volunteers. Thank you to those who volunteer or have volunteered for global ties. We are always still in need for more volunteers though! If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, take a chance and volunteer with Global Ties Akron.
